چکیده

cry detection can be defined as a procedure where the voiced crying sounds are selected from the recording. the most difficult part of the cry detection is to recognize the inspiratory sounds and separate them from the voiced sounds. in addition, sound recordings may come from different places and recorded with several devices, in this way the method of the cry detection has to be universal. authors created the Extended Harmonic Product Spectrum method to classify the spectral structure of a given signal. based on this new method authors developed the Automatic Infant Cry Detection (AICD) system to detect voiced cry sounds in any kind of recording.

Automatic Recognition System of Infant Cry based on F-Transform

A new approach has been proposed to design of an automatic infant cry recognition system based on the fuzzy transform (F-transform) that classifies two different kinds of cries, which come from physiological status and medical disease. Feature extraction and development of classification algorithms play an important role in the area of automatic analysis of infant cry signals. F-transform is th...

Infant Cry Detection and Pain Scale Assessment: A Pilot Study

A biological alarm system that connects mother and new born is referred as infant cry. Infant cry is a first means of communication through which mother understands the level of distress/ needs. Infant cry can be considered a multimodal behavior which involves limb movements, facial expressions which changes over time to identify the needs of an infant. The cry of the baby cannot be predicted a...

Detecting Pathologies from Infant Cry Applying Scaled Conjugated Gradient Neural Networks

This work presents the development of an automatic recognition system of infant cry, with the objective to classify two types of cry: normal and pathological cry from deaf babies. In this study, we used acoustic characteristics obtained by the Linear Prediction technique and as a classifier a neural network that was trained with the scaled conjugate gradient algorithm. Preliminary results are s...

Sex-Specific Automatic Responses to Infant Cries: TMS Reveals Greater Excitability in Females than Males in Motor Evoked Potentials

Neuroimaging reveals that infant cries activate parts of the premotor cortical system. To validate this effect in a more direct way, we used event-related transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). Here, we investigated the presence and the time course of modulation of motor cortex excitability in young adults who listened to infant cries. Specifically, we recorded motor evoked potentials (MEPs) ...
